Sacramento, CA—Regional San will offer free group tours of its Sacramento Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant on specific Thursday afternoons and Saturday mornings between April and October 2014.
“Few people in the Sacramento region know where their wastewater ends up once it leaves their homes and businesses,” said Regional San District Engineer Prabhakar Somavarapu. “This is a great opportunity for our customers to learn about the many processes involved in meeting our stringent wastewater treatment and discharge requirements now and in the future.”
The two and a half hour tour includes an overview of the
atment process and District operations with key Regional San managers and examines the strict environmental compliance steps required by state and federal regulators. A short walking tour will take visitors behind the scenes through the Plant’s water quality testing laboratory, process areas, and control center facilities not normally open to the public. There will also be discussion on the approximately $2 billion treatment upgrade currently in progress.
Advance registration is required and space is limited. Tour dates and a reservation form are located at www.regionalsan.com/tour-treatment-plant, or by calling 916.876.6120 during regular business hours.
Tour attendees must be 16 years of age or older. Moderate walking and stairs should be expected by tour participants.
