Regional San to Receive $280.5 Million in Prop. 1 Funds to Expand Water Recycling in the Sacramento Region

Sacramento, Calif.— The California Water Commission (Commission) recently announced that Regional San will receive $280.5 million—the maximum requested funding amount—in Proposition 1 grant funding  to help make the South County Ag Program a reality for the Sacramento region.

Successful Startup of Solar Energy Installation at Sacramento Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant

New 4.2-megawatt solar array provides clean, sustainable energy source for Regional San’s treatment plant operations

Elk Grove, CA – Sacramento Regional County Sanitation District (Regional San) recently accepted a 21-acre solar energy project built on the grounds of the Sacramento Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant (SRWTP) in Elk Grove. The array is one of the largest in the Sacramento region.

The 4.2-megawatt solar array is a clean and sustainable energy source that will help power SRWTP’s energy-intensive operations. The solar project increases and diversifies Regional San’s green energy portfolio while reducing energy costs.

Regional San’s South County Ag Program on CBS13

Regional San’s landmark water recycling effort, the South County Ag Program, was in the news again, this time on CBS13.

This report focuses on the Program’s aim to deliver highly treated wastewater to farmers as a drought-proof water resource. The Program will also help recharge groundwater in the south county, restore precious wildlife habitat, and even benefit the health of the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta.

Honor denotes innovative and sustainable utility management practices

A partnership of noted water sector organizations—the National Association of Clean Water Agencies, the Water Environment Federation, the Water Environment & Reuse Foundation, and the WateReuse Association—with input from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency—have selected Sacramento Regional County Sanitation District as a recipient of the inaugural “Utility of the Future (UOTF) Today” recognition. The recognition program celebrates the exceptional performance of wastewater utilities while supporting the adoption of the innovative UOTF business model.

Regional San to Re-Open Recycled Water Fill Station for 2016

Offering free, sustainable recycled water for residential and commercial users

Elk Grove, CA – On May 10, 2016, Sacramento Regional County Sanitation District (Regional San) will re-open its Recycled Water Fill Station for the 2016 season. The fill station, located at the Sacramento Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant in Elk Grove, offers residential and commercial users free, environmentally responsible, and safe recycled water to irrigate lawns, gardens, and landscaping, or for dust control or other permitted uses.
